LBJ VII Kentucky PE's

Nike showed it's marketing chops over this weekend, during Kentucky's victory over Vanderbilt players broke out a very impressive KU LBJ VII, most notable John Wall, the potential number one pick in the NBA draft. Wall not only will be the number one pick in this years draft but with the dismal season the New Jersey Nets are putting together Wall could very well land in one of the top media markets in the world. To top it off sitting court side is Lebron himself sporting a fresh pair of CHina's. Wow would it be something if Wall and James were teammates next.......oh I'm sorry I'm getting way ahead of myself. Nike great job of wooing the top endorser yet again.

Mario Chalmers fighting to get back his spot

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports:

Though Rafer Alston figures to remain the Heat’s starting point guard this season barring an injury or something unforeseen, Mario Chalmers continues to express his desire to regain that spot.

“Time to get back on my [game]. Tired of sittin’ on the bench,” Chalmers said Sunday on Twitter. “Gotta get back to the way I was.”

Before Monday’s game, Chalmers did not back away from those comments. “I’m ready to get back that spot,” he said. “The team needs me back there. I want my spot back. I think there’s a great chance I can get it back.”

Though Chalmers said he accepts whatever role he is given, starting is “more meaningful,” he said, “because I started every game last season. It’s my fault that I lost it” — initially, to Carlos Arroyo before Alston was signed.

Ray Allen PE 12's

Maybe its the sweet jumper, or the championship persona, but Ray Allen on a Jordan Brand team of stars always shine bright. Maybe it's the consistent money green that has helped his PE's be the most coveted of any player in the league.

Battle of Kobe IV ID's

Although Kobe has moved on to the Zoom Kobe V, nightly on hardwood at all levels you still see the shoe that I think revolutionized basketball footwear the KobeIV. The word classic is thrown around so often in the sneaker world its all most shameful to say but this shoe is an instant classic. As time goes by you will see influence from this sneaker in new releases and you will also see this shoe appreciated more as a lifestyle shoe.

Kobe Bryant Reaches 25.000 points

During last nights game against the CAVS Kobe reached the 25K point plateau.

Top Selling Jerseys

Allstar balloting is a great barrometer of who the most popular(i.e marketable)NBA player is, but jersey sales are also a great indicator. For me it further fuels the rivalry that has become James vs. Bryant, Lebron leading vote getter for the Allstar game, now its reported Kobe leads league in jersey sales. This matchup is the best since Bird and Magic, unfortunately Kobe has a few years on LBJ so we should enjoy it while it last. The two front runners in jersey sales treated us to another epic battle last night, where the CAVS beat the Lakers 93-87 to sweep the regular season series 2-0. Lets hope this battle continues in June with the NBA championship on the line.

1. Kobe Bryant – Lakers
2. LeBron James – Cavaliers
3. Dwight Howard- Magic
4. Derrick Rose – Bulls
5. Dwyane Wade – Heat
6. Kevin Garnett – Celtics
7. Chris Paul – Hornets
8. Paul Pierce – Celtics
9. Shaquille O’Neal – Cavaliers
10. Pau Gasol – Lakers
11. Carmelo Anthony – Nuggets
12. Steve Nash – Suns
13. David Lee – Knicks
14. Allen Iverson – 76ers
15. Kevin Durant – Thunder

NBA Allstar Starters Announced

2010 NBA Western Conference All Stars (Starters)

G -- Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Laker)
G -- Steve Nash (Phoenix Suns)
C -- Amar 'e Stoudemire (Phoenix Suns)
F -- Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets)
F -- Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs)

2010 NBA Eastern Conference All Stars (Starters)

G -- Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat)
G -- Allen Iverson (Philadelphia 76ers)
C -- Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic)
F -- LeBron James (Cleveland Cavs)
F -- Kevin Garnett (Boston Celtics)

Announce tonight on TNT's special ALLSTAR program, this years fan ballot cause room for debate as usual. First in the west Deron William again gets the snub by the fans, wth Steve Nash getting the start at point gaurd, making the vote very interesting for Western conference coaches as CP3, D will, abd the Trilblazers Brandon Roy should make this team, lets see what happens.
Only real argument on the east is Allen Iverson starting at point, although Rajon Rondo should be the starter, his lack of star power is probably the main reason AI will be the starting point gaurd in Dallas. Surely Rondo will be voted in by the coaches for his first allstar apperance.

Soldier 3 Most underrated basketball shoe of '09-10

Inspired by Lebron James collection, the soldier 3 is one of the best basketball shoes available, this opinion can be substantiated by the number of colorways seen nightly on NBA and NCAA hardwoods. At 13.4oz its a lightweight shoe with great support from two straps to keep your foot supported as it pounds the court. Now you can find these shoes on sales at many leading retailers, take advantage and grab what we at Soles Of The Game feel to be the most underrated shoe of the '09-10 season.

Bravos spotted on Golden State's Anthony Morrow

The new color rule for NBA footwear has been both a treat for sneaker fans and an invaluable marketing tool for Nike Basketball. In last nights action Anthony Morrows beaks out the all red Air Jordan 5s.

Lebron James VII Mix up

Lebron has shown a rainbow of colors for his new signature shoe, but tonight in Portland, LBJ rocked one royal blue and on orange shoe. Not the best look. But after dropping 41 points to defeat a red hot blazer team, do you think this will start a new trend?

Gilbert Arenas

No matter how you feel about Agent Zero and his antics that led to his suspension, it is obvious that the Wizards want to distance themselves from the Gilbert and this incident. But for those who were in the trenches with Gil night to night want to pay tribute.

Dorian Dawkins Classic

Dorian Dawkins Classic features three days of top basketball and comedy at Delta College
Geoff Mott | The Saginaw News

Saginaw High senior Christian Dawkins' idea was pretty much a go the moment Delta College Athletic Director Greg Mallek laid eyes on the 17-year-old's e-mail.

Looking to honor his brother Dorian Dawkins, a 14-year-old who tragically passed away from a heart condition called Acute Myocardial Ischemia on June 12 last summer after collapsing during a summer basketball game in East Lansing, Christian Dawkins set out to bring the best teams from around the state into Saginaw for a basketball classic.

He needed a place to host four games that would eventually include Columbus (Ohio) Northland, one of the top ranked high school teams in the country. With the help of his aunt, Christian Dawkins and his family were able to book comedian D.L. Hughley for a comedy show benefiting Dorian Styles Dawkins Foundation, a mentorship program for academics and athletics, and the American Heart Association.

"Christian had looked at our schedule and saw that we play Mott Community College in February," said Mallek, who served as an assistant coach in boys basketball at Arthur Hill for six years before accepting the men's head coaching job at Delta. "He is a very smart, highly intelligible young man and that's a credit to his parents. He had a very good plan.

"I ran it by (Delta College Vice President) Trevor Kubatzke and he said to let (Delta President) Jean Goodnow know. She told me to get it done. It was a no-brainer."

Hughley will perform at the Show Your Heart Benefit Delta College's Pioneer Gymnasium at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29. Tickets to the show, which Mallek estimates can seat 2,200 people, are on sale for $35 and available at dd3.eventbrite.com.

The Dorian Styles Dawkins Show Your Heart Memorial Basketball Classic starts Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6-7. Delta plays Mott CC in a women's game at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m. At 6 p.m., Columbus Northland, ranked No. 2 in the ESPNU Top 25 national rankings, will meet the No. 9 team in the nation - perennial state powerhouse Detroit Country Day. East Lansing and Detroit Consortium close out Saturday with game at 8 p.m.

Clarkston will meet Academy of Oak Park at noon Sunday, followed by Saginaw High and defending Class B state champion Flint Powers. Tickets for each day is $10 and are available at the door or by visiting Christian Dawkins' website at loydenterprises.com. Mallek estimates the gym will seat 1,800 for basketball games.

The event will be one of the largest ever held at Delta College.

"We're donating everything we possibly can," Mallek said. "Our head of the Police Academy here, Mike Wiltse, is having all of his cadets volunteer their time that day.

"I've been going to different departments around campus seeking volunteers and we're handling the marketing of the event. We'll also set up an admissions table to show people what we're all about here."

The basketball classic has potential to be a great recruiting tool for Delta College, Mallek said. For the first time since the school opened in 1961, Delta College is internally providing scholarship money to its athletic program. The athletic department continues to match that effort through fundraising.

"We put in brand new bleachers a few years ago and have one of the best facilities in our conference," Mallek said. "We're fortunate to be able to do this. This is great exposure for Delta College. Diversity is at the core of this mid-Michigan area and this is great three days of activities involved in a great community outreach opportunity.

"Selfishly, we're trying to expose our campus, our athletes."

Hughley, a 46-year-old native of Los Angeles, got his start as the host of BET's ComicView in 1992. Aside from his show "The Hugleys", which ran from 1998-2002, Hughley earned stardom as a member of the Original Kings of Comedy with Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey and the now deceased Bernie Mac.

Hughley is offering his time for free. His assistant, Sonia Vaughn, is Dorian Dawkins' aunt and the sister to mother Latricia Dawkins, principal at Loomis Math, Science and Technology Academy.

"D.L. is like family to us. Enough family that he would call Dorian his nephew," Latricia Dawkins said Tuesday at Ruben Daniels Middle School, where Dorian Dawkins' No. 23 was retired by the school in a special ceremony before the Thompson Middle School-Ruben Daniels game.

"D.L. is very funny. This is going to be the hardest show he's ever done."

The Dawkins family raised more than $2,000 at the "Red Out" football game between Saginaw High and Heritage in September. The Show Your Heart Memorial Classic was Christian Dawkins way to honor his brother.

Dorian Dawkins had scored 38 points against Team Ohio last summer during AAU play. The Ohio team was coached by Columbus Northland coach Satch Sullinger, whose son Jared Sullinger is the No. 2 ranked prep player in the nation, according to ESPN. Sullinger, who helped Northland beat preseason No. 1-ranked Findlay Prep (Nev.) in a nationally televised game in December, will head to Ohio State next year.

"I tried to get the best players and the best teams that I could," Christian Dawkins said. "Not only do I hope this benefit raises money, but that it helps put things into perspective for people.

"Take a step back, value your life and your family."

For two weekends, the Dawkins family will value the great joy that Dorian Dawkins brought in a quick 14 years of life.

"Dorian had the brightest smile you could imagine," said his father and Saginaw High boys basketball coach Lou Dawkins. "I think after those two weekends, we'll all be wearing a Dorian smile."

Lebron James VII "Burgundy and Gold"

Best CAVS classic uniform yet, maybe..maybe not, but this version of the LBJ VII is one for the books.

Baron Davis Li Ning BD1

Baron Davis may not be the player he once was, but he has a fresh new look on his feet. Visually this is a great looking shoe and if the the overall performance match the design this in my opinion is one of the top new basketball shoes this season. I'm curious to see what the future holds for Li-Ning here in the states.

Jordan VI (6) White/Varsity Red spring/summer2010

Classic Jordan VI retro returning this spring. First introduced in 1991, now it returns very close to the original classic shoe MJ himself wore during that triumphant season. Osneaker had a few available , but they quickly sold out so the rest of us must wait, but It will be well worth it.
